Large 7m tall menhir near to the village of Saint-Nicolas-du-Pélem

From JohnGinny
Another hillside track menhir on the outskirts of the village, overlooking the river that feeds the local fontaine. High earth banks delineate the pathway to the stone.

A very impressive 7 meters high, it hid amongst the trees until we nearly bumped into it! Woodland menhirs have a tendency to turn the same colour as trees which makes hunting them rather difficult - even when accompanied by a detailed map.

A imposing stone, apparently it is well known locally and located in a well visited woodland area.

Coat Castel menhir
Coat Castel menhir submitted by Jimwithnoname : Taken around 8pm, this menhir stands at the edge of dense woodland. Large boulders are dotted around close by. As many forest menhirs probably are, this quartz granite menhir is covered in thick moss, but I'm sure it would have once shone brightly in the sunshine.
