Great Oak Stone
Great Oak Stone submitted by cerrig : This is the view from the South East, on a bearing of approx. 300 degrees North West, along the very flat and dead vertical "smiley"faced Northern flank. If someone hadn't thoughtfully planted a tree in the way you would be able to see that this stone is aligned on the top of Myarth hill (not the summit), beyond this the line goes to Bwllch standing stone, out of site from here. Spookily, if you f... (Vote or comment on this photo)
Standing Stone in Powys. The Great Oak is in a field at the bottom of a slight incline. This solid stone of about 8 ft. high, stands within a small copse overlooking the valley. Possibly once part of a chambered tomb at this location.

Great Oak Stone
Great Oak Stone submitted by cerrig : From North. If you look you can see a big smiley face. The stone was laughing at me because I'd walked backwards into a pile of stingies to get this view. Strange sense of humour these Crickhowell stones have. (2 comments - Vote or comment on this photo)

Great Oak Stone
Great Oak Stone submitted by virtualuser : The Great Oak Stone, situated in a field in Crickhowell Powys. Coflein the online database for the National Monuments Record of Wales (NMRW) states their was once an inscription on the stone "1844", It is thought to have served as a boundary mark also believed to signal the site of a chambered tomb. Great Oak Stone submitted by cerrig : From the south-west. Right in the centre of the stone is another face, a small one this time. This is a very nosey two faced stone, but it feels quite friendly and welcoming here.

Great Oak Stone
Great Oak Stone submitted by DMDC : Visited this happy stone today. Very nice, but it was difficult to get into the field - walked up to and through Coed Cefn woodland to see if there was access into the field from there but no. Ended up climbing up the bank from Great Oak road. Nice iron age hillfort in the woodland too!
