seveaye couldn't find on 14th Jul 2011 I tramped around the coordinates for a good hour to no avail. There is however evidence of a dyke running through the field. The creek running by the the field had one large stone by itself, which looked like it may have fallen in from the field. But on the opposite side from where the coordinates are given. photos of dyke and stone to follow. Seve.

A standing stone about 5 feet high which stood in a field, mentioned in the Clwyd Archaeological Record Ref. 01138. Now reportedly disappeared.

The above information from The Ancient Stones of Wales by Chris Barber and John Godfrey Williams, ISBN 0951044478 although when that was written it seems it was still there.

A report that this stone was destroyed by Andy B on Wednesday, 20 April 2022
(User Info | Send a Message)
Posted to the Froncysyllte Memories FaceBook Group:

From Gareth Jones, who farms a new property in the Blaenau: "Dad was brought up in Blaenau Uchaf. Our farm is a new build just down the road and we’ve called it Garreg Lwyd after the field, which is probably named after the [stone]. I asked dad about the stone and he’s filled me in on what’s happened to it. Before we had the field, it was farmed as part of cauaugwynion when Myddelton farmed it in their own right.

The farm manager at the time had the stone removed. He’s died a few years ago and the estate sold to Kronospan now. I don’t know where the stone is now or if it was buried, dad thinks it may have been blown up."

A report that this stone is no longer there by Andy B on Wednesday, 30 March 2022
(User Info | Send a Message)
There's been a report in the Froncysyllte Memories Facebook Group that this stone is no longer there.
I can't see any obvious shadows on the aerial views that would indicate a stone at this location.
That's all I know.
Someone might like to go and have a look.
