Chrissy visited on 1st Jan 2023 - their rating: Cond: 5 Amb: 5 Access: 4 A very interesting site, managed by a gentleman who has a passion for recreating history, along with the flora native to the area. There is genuinely something of interest for all ages

Park in the Past
Park in the Past submitted by TheCaptain : Britain's Big Fort Build at Park In The Past. We're making history by building the first entire timber auxiliary fort using authentic techniques and materials - the first Roman fort to be built in Britain in almost 2,000 years! From parkinthepast.org.uk/the-roman-fort-project/ (Vote or comment on this photo)
Park in the Past is a newly created nature and history park built on the site of an old sand and gravel quarry. Currently the main feature is a completely new build Roman Fort, but there will also be an Iron Age village and a prehistoric realm complete with megalithic features.

See parkinthepast.org.uk/
"Set in an ancient Welsh landscape, the park comprises 120 acres of outstanding natural beauty offering woodlands and wetlands, a magnificent 35-acre lake and the gorgeous River Alyn, as well as wonderful walks and spacious fields. We need your help to build an amazing prehistoric realm and a full-scale Roman fort and Celtic village. Explore and experience your heritage - the landscape of your ancestors."
