Misc. Earthwork in Shropshire

A small, roughly circular earthwork at the bottom of the Heath Mynd and very close to the possibly ancient trackway that runs between the Heath Mynd and Cefn Gunthly and down to the valley between the latter and Black Rhadley Hill. There is also a low cross dyke like feature a few metres to the SW that, when looking at the landscape, appears to be related. The earthwork survives as a slight hollow with some very low earthworks built up with stones.

The recent Open Access status of of the entire Heath Mynd afforded the chance to discover this intriguing site, however, an attempt to find a suggested barrow near the summit proved fruitless. There does however appear to be a collection of cairns, similar to those on Corndon Hill, on the summit with the Trig point, however they are not listed anywhere as being of archaeological interest . A wonderful quiet spot with a magnificent 360 degree view of the Shropshire Hills.
