Mane Guen-meaning White Mountain in Breton or sacred mountain. Because the colour white was that of the Druids and their clothing due to the relation to light it was held as the most holy colour of all, to the point that the word came to mean people, places and things consecrated hence in Brittany plenty of names of saints begin with the syllable Gwen.

Today, this acceptance is lost, and with it the true meaning of many Menez Gwen or in Breton Vannes Mané-Guen. Yet the site of Guénin carries with it all his old magic.

The highest peak measures 165 metres, at the east door of the chapel dedicated to St. Michael, built in 1783. From there it is possible to follow the ridge by a path that goes down then up to the West crown. The stone of sacrifice which is the largest stone has a cavity matching the overall shape and dimensions of a human body with a well-marked head.

There is a gutter which is detached and takes the rainwater away. It could have been used to take the blood of the body offered in sacrifices.

The place was indeed remained in local tradition a place of respect and fear. In 1300 the hill was illuminated for several days and nights with a supernatural whiteness.
