Just off Plaza de Miguel de Unamuno, up the obvious staircase at Calzadas de Mallona 2, the museum has two floors for exhibits in a very modern building.

There is a permanent exhibit that shows material recovered from archaeological excavations. Among exhibits are tools used by hunter gatherers, tools used by sheep herders and in agriculture, things from the Iron Age, Roman remains, Medieval Age tools, and ceramics and porcelain from the modern age. There is a lovely reconstructed ancient ship.

Arkeologi Museoa - Bizkaia submitted by theCaptain : Although I am not 100% sure, I believe these stones were found associated with ancient burials. This is a more modern (approx 5th century I believe) version of the wheel headed stones. Cornish Crosses anyone ? (Vote or comment on this photo)

Arkeologi Museoa - Bizkaia submitted by theCaptain : Although I don't think this is strictly old enough for the Portals coverage, there is a lovely reconstructed ancient ship. I think this gives a good feel for the museum as a whole, and the care gone to in its displays. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Plaza de Miguel de Unamuno is great place to go with. It has a hundreds of staircase, and its really amazing counting every step you take until you reach to the top, try it,,its an overwhelming experience. You what, I love high staircase because for me its another wishing stairs. Before I start to step on, I first think my wish and when I got to the top, I got a big smile on my smile because its another wish to be granted,hehe..Well just my own belief, but you can also try, there's nothing wrong of trying.
