Bannerrigg Possible Standing Stone
Bannerrigg Possible Standing Stone submitted by Adamibbo789 : The stone, with its packing stones visible at its base. Photo taken on a drone from a distance. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Standing Stone (Menhir) in Cumbria. A standing stone situated at the top of Bannerrigg Fell. It is listed on the National Trust Heritage List as a 'possible standing stone', and this appears to be the case. You can read the article in question here: https://heritagerecords.nationaltrust.org.uk/HBSMR/MonRecord.aspx?uid=MNA155406

Standing 9 foot tall, it is visibly secured at its base with packing stones. There are a number of adjacent stones, potentially extending out into a row to the southwest.

It sits in a private field, so will require permission to access. This is just one of several prehistoric features on Bannerrigg, including cairns and furrows; it's a shame it's all private! Obviously - it goes without saying - do not trespass!
