Long Mortuary Enclosure in Cheshire

This site, believed to be a long mortuary enclosure was revealed as a cropmark some years ago, 800m south-west of the village of Churton. Overlooking the flood plain of the Dee, it is composed of a rectangular ditched enclosure with bowed sides and rounded corners, aligned roughly north to south.

Although an elongate crop mark - NNE-SSW - does show on the OS aerial photo at Bing maps, it is not at the quoted site location but centred at SJ 40945573. However, there is no topographic feature on Environment Agency lidar (icon next to that for CamRA)
