The myth surrounding the creation of these wells is bloody!
Noyale was an 6th century Celtic Christian from the British Isles. She was a devout and beautiful young woman, who resisted the attentions of a native Breton lord Nizan.
He beheaded her with his sword. She picked up her head and started to walk. The first time she stopped to pray she stuck her staff into the earth, where it became a tree. Three drops of blood from her severed head fell upon the grass, and three fountains immediately sprang up.
Another version of the frequent occurring Breton beheading myth.
