Despite this it is easily overlooked as it is built into the sand stone wall and only a metre in diameter. The water is fairly clear, but the structure is in need of repair. Its dedication, as with other such sites is problematical, many authorities will identify that the dedication is St Bridget, the sixth century Irish saint, who is much respected in her native lands. However it is possible that the dedication is the survival of a pagan dedication, Bride being the female goddess of the Celtic Brigantes.
