Dundry Long Barrow
Dundry Long Barrow submitted by 4clydesdale7 : The Barrow from the ESE taken in Spring 2012 (Vote or comment on this photo)
It is now probable that this site is accepted as a Long Barrow rather than two Round Barrows despite it being waisted and much affected by the plough - it sits just on the south side of a strong ridge overlooking the southern suburbs of Bristol - the views from the ridge are quite amazing - it measures 75ft by 30ft and is 4ft high and is orientated E-W - there is no ditch - this and its shorter length are common features of many Somerset Long Barrows

It has been shown as a mound for many many years on various editions of the Ordnance Survey - E K Tratman of the University of Bristol Spelaeological Society never considered it to be a Barrow but after one of his mentors S A Rahtz and English Heritage's predecessor the Ministry of Works got together in the 1950s it was believed to be a Long Barrow and given the Somerset notation T367 - more recent inspections seem to concur - but as each year passes the plough seeks its revenge -
