Misc. Earthwork in Gloucestershire

This is marked on the OS as an earthwork but it does appear to have entrances. I don't know if it's a an enclosure, barrow, henge or fort but it is quite interesting.

We were looking for the ruins of St Margaret's Chapel which is supposed to be a little further up the lane.

Always interested in old chapels and/or ruined chapels, I tried to find out more information about St Margaret's Chapel and the enclosure you've submitted, oldman. For the enclosure, I found this entry on the Historic England map search at SO 56420 06446, HE List ID 1002087, which says: "The monument includes a defended enclosure situated on the summit of a small spur overlooking the upper valley of the Mork Brook. The enclosure survives as a roughly oval central area of approximately 0.2ha defined by a rampart bank measuring up to 3.2m high and a partially buried outer ditch on all sides except the northern where it has been cut by a later track and quarry. There appears to be an entrance to the south. The exact date of the enclosure is unknown. Some sources suggest it is an Iron Age defended settlement whilst others believe it is medieval in origin and is a small ringwork." Using my lat/long to OS grid reference converter I got the ngr for the earthwork to be SO 56429 06436, pretty close to the HE co-ordinates.

This puts the chapel of St Margaret at SO5622306206, see Historic England List ID 1186642, some 300m to the SSE.

It this the same site as your enclosure? Would love to visit. Thanks for submitting this.
