Round Barrow in Cheshire

This scheduled barrow lies 120m east of the village of Whitley and has suffered under the plough and is now approximately 32m in diameter and 0.6m high. Field walking in the area by Mrs Pat Johnson revealed a small calcinated flint, probably a scraper 38mm long by 33mm wide, which may have come from the mound. A further flint and a small fragment of bone were found at a later date.

We went to try and find this barrow last weekend, but all we could find in the field were some sheep! We couldn't even see a small grassy bump as is the case with most of the other round barrows in the county.
