I have visited· I would like to visit

TheCaptain visited on 27th Jun 2005 - their rating: Cond: 2 Amb: 5 Access: 3 High up on the clifftop near Pléneuf-Val-André overlooking the sea in two directions can be found this very overgrown cairn. Despite getting near after a very long walk round the coastal path, I could not get to the actual cairn through the gorse and brambles. Supposedly the remains of three dolmenic chambers with entry passages can be seen in the mound with drystone chambers, but there was no chance of seeing any of that for me on my visit. But what a fantastic place this is.

After last nights storms, I was reminded of the stormy night I spent here almost exactly 7 years ago during my grand tour. My notes at the time:

"What a thunderstorm that was overnight. Thought the world was falling in. The heavy rain on the roof of the van doesn’t half make a racket. The lads in the little tents nearby all moved into the showerblock ! It must have gone on for an hour about 4 till 5 in the morning the sky was constantly alight somewhere with lightning. As a result a late start..."

The sea was all disturbed and multicoloured the next morning , with some very muddy regions where the rain hasd washed everything down off the cliffs into it.
