This well can be found by turning left up the bank about 50 yards beyond the gate on entering the ramparts of Cadbury Castle.
It's a (now dry) stone well-shaft which has been repaired with brick, probably at the same time as Queen Anne's Well (q.v.), with which it has been confused, was reconstructed. Above the shaft is a semicircular concave stone hood set into the bank of the hillfort. Given that Collinson, in his History of Somerset (1791), says that 'the other spring [on the hill] is nameless', the name 'King Arthur's' may have been coined after that. Nothing much is known about it. It's been missed by eagle-eyed well-hunters so do look out closely for it!
