A delightful and substantial site. The water from the spring fills a large bath three feet deep of clear water. Its waters are said to cure skin diseases. However to get the full cure you needed to visit nine times in the month of May.

It is found by taking the A4136 and Plump hill take the south lane, and then take a turning along Jubilee Road and continue until you reach a timber yard. Take a track and follow the stream.

Re: St Anthony''s Well (Cinderford) by Anonymous on Tuesday, 07 September 2021
I''m not sure why it''s identified as near Cinderford. It''s nearer Mitcheldean (with it''s substantial Medieval Church with doom painting), Abenhall (Church with record of local bowman who fought at the Battle of Agincourt) and Littledean. Not Cinderford!

I visited this site for the first time today on a cani cross run, such a beautiful place, I drank from the spring and washed my face and gave thanks to the wood spirits. Namaste.

My husband and I got married here. It was a Pagan/Jedi handfasting ceremony; 2pm 4:8:12. It was in a thunder storm; powerful and beautiful place; a moment in time. Magical :)

I also grew up in the area and used to ride my horse down here. It was a real treat on a hot summers day. Happy memories.

I grew up in this area and have very good memories of St Anthony's well, we used to ride down there on our horses. I am in my fifties now that was 35 years ago and it still looks the same today, its beautiful, and anyone visiting the forest must visit this place.

Mid november I was introduced to this magical site. Within minutes I was obliged to have a birthday dip. A golden carpet of beech surrounded my guardians of dreams. A serious wonderful site. A rain of leaves kept us entranced. Special.

We used to visit the Well when we were children during and after the war. We were evacuated nearby. We believed if we walked round it 3 times (without falling in) and had a wish, it would come true. I can't even think what we wished for, probably did'nt come true. Years ago it seemed to us more like a magical place. There were more trees then.
