Bradling Stone
Bradling Stone submitted by TimPrevett : It is unknown if this stone is actually megalithic, but if the tradition had any truth, then in my opinion it suggests some reasonable antiquity to have been invested with some means of Divine Punishment. The conifer and bench are very recent additions, and given the black splashes of paint on it, from the recently painted signpost, it also makes a handy workbench! (Vote or comment on this photo)
This stone, in the centre of Norton in Hales, has been there since anyone can remember; tradition has it that anyone found working after 12 noon on Shrove Tuesday, was taken to this stone and either beaten, bumped, or rolled on this stone (depending on which source you consult).

Bradling Stone submitted by TimPrevett : If one was 'bradled' upon this stone, the question must be asked in what manner would it happen? If it was rolled up and down forcefully, then it would not be with the smiles these two volunteers here show for their penitential offering of being rolled upon the stone. The Bradling Stone
The Bradling Stone submitted by TimPrevett : A very helpful woman from the adjacent St Chads Parish Church allowed me to ascend the staircase to the tower to the roof, and enabled me to take the photograph down on to the stone. It's central location to the village is obvious.

Have been doing some research on this; a source in 1929 writes about the stone, "which undoubtedly once formed part of a burial chamber", though later investigators have not been as confident about its antiquity.
