Is Woodbury Hill Private Land? A lot of signs appeared stating NO FOOTPATH?

Hi Anon, Public paths can sometimes cross private land so there's no instant answer.

Your local County Council ought to have a register of public footpaths so you can check with them if there is one that the public have access to or not.

Unfortunately due to lockdown, so many people walking in the countryside and behaving inappropriately has led to some landowners trying to stop legitimate access.

A beautiful ancient hill and forrest walk with views towards Abberley. Martlet and Malvern. The timeline of the site is discussed at two information points. Unlike many hill forts which are well visited, this place is quite isolated and therefore special. We arrived on a silent warm afternoon. The air was still and we could imagine ancient Britons foraging in the cool green woods. The atmosphere of the hill top mound now covered with pine trees is dark and mysterious and one can imagine camping through the night and listening to the magical whispers of our ancestors.

Then we are reminded of the English civil war where local peasents met to form a clubmen society to protect themselves from the ravages of both the loyalist and round head troops. They met on this hill to proclaim a charter that would unite them against these threats.

In all Woodbury Hill evokes our ancient and more recent past and
this short walk offers you time to consider how the past and present collide. R Potts

Re: Woodbury Hill (Worcestershire) by Anonymous on Monday, 08 December 2008
I parked in a layby (on Camp Lane) at the head end of the large quarry to the SW of Woodbury Hill and walked up the footpath towards Lippetts Farm. The footpath then appears to follow the fence up the tree line to a style at the top (rather than over the second style and across the field). Look out for the abandoned house straight ahead of you once over the style at the top... private land I expect, but you can peek through the hedge). The path then follows straight up the hill (to the right of the abandoned house). The forest on the fort itself is pretty dense and not a great deal to see. But take the footpath through to find a lovely view towards Abberley from the far (North) side of the fort, and some old obelisk at the far Western (highest) point. Also a couple of info boards at the site. Worth an exploration this place but it wouldnt make my top 10.
