Morville Cross submitted by dooclay : No sing of a sundial surmounting this ? (Vote or comment on this photo)
Ancient Cross in Shropshire

Lies down a narrow drive way off the main road. Historic England describe it: 'The monument includes a standing stone cross, situated in the churchyard of St Gregory's Church, Morville, c.18m south east of the south porch. The sandstone cross includes a socket stone and shaft, both of medieval date, and a post-medieval sundial. The socket stone is square in section and measures 0.8m at the base. It has chamfered angles and stands 0.2m high. The octagonal shaft measures 0.3m at the base and has chamfered angles above broached stops. The shaft is 1.2m high, and is surmounted by a bronze sundial'. Could not see a sundial here though?
