Tortworth Stone
Tortworth Stone submitted by dooclay : I knocked at the house to obtain permission to visit - finding no-one in and no sign of the stone visible. Next door, in through an open gate, I saw this in the hedge - the only thing even remotely like a menhir but w/ no sign of the owner here I left. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Stone at Tortworth - possibly a megalith. (Information from Rev. C. Overy, North Nibley Vicarage, 1950)

Tortworth Stone
Tortworth Stone submitted by dooclay : The location of the stone in question. Would be good to speak to the owner but although there were three cars on the property there appeared to be no-one home. I entered the field because I heard a tractor and was hoping to approach, but it was several fields away. (2 comments - Vote or comment on this photo)

I've just tied down the location of this stone and updated from
https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/archsearch/record.xhtml

Worth enquiring at this property if anyone is nearby. I can't see anything from Street View.
