St Ann's Well (Great Malvern)
St Ann's Well (Great Malvern) submitted by AJK : St. Anne was well known in the Middle Ages as a patroness of wells & springs. Cottagers probably lived here as early as the 13th century, near the site of an even older monk's hermitage. The purity of the water attracted 18th century visitors and the pump room and baths were built between 1815-1819. St Ann's Well is one of several wells and springs which feed natural spring water to the town of Malvern. It can be found via several steep walking routes up the hillsides from the town of Great Malvern.

These days a cafe is housed within the old well/spa buildings, which is a welcome resting point after some strenuous walking in the Malvern Hills.

Re: St Ann's Well (Great Malvern) by Anonymous on Friday, 30 April 2010
Alfred Watkins believed that St Ann's Well was the start of a ley line that passes along the Malvern ridge through several wells including the Holy Well, Walms Well and St. Pewtress Well. In Early British Trackways (1922) Watkins gives another example of a ley line that he believed passed through Priory Church, Malvern and St. Ann's Well to Little Mountain (Westbrook) via Arthur's Stone, Cross End, Moccas Church, Monnington Church, Credenhill (old) Court, Pipe and Lyde Church, and Beacon Hill.
