Ancient Cross in Greater Manchester

The Eccles Parish Church Website records, "beside the pulpit, there is a fragment of a 10th-llth century cross. It has a design of interlacing knot-work and was found in 1889 in Salters Lane (the road that linked the centre of Eccles to the River Irwell), during the excavation of the Manchester Ship Canal.
