Is this boundary feature the same as Canmore ID 342223? Searches on 'Herriot's' and 'Herriot's Dyke' bring up an earthwork with a different grid reference. Unfortunately, no further information is available on this Canmore record, aprt from the fact it is a boundary feature, period unclassified.

This is a genuine feature, but is it prehistoric? I can't find it in Canmore. Thoughts anyone?

reply to ANDY .... see comments on site re derivation of name, possibly "dark age" tribal boundary. I have tried to trace the remnants of it across Berwickshire following comments in the "Transactions of the Berwickshire Naturalists" observed in the 1920's ...Farm names such as Herriot Bank and Dykesgatehead suggest its path but very little remains .. Berwickshire is too well farmed and too well ploughed!
