Hillfort in Dorset

This is a medium sized hillfort by Dorset standards. From a distance it looks like a tree-covered hill, but the trees in fact hide a bi-vallate hillfort. One odd non iron age addition to the site is a large brick-built pillar with a copper ball on top, built by a local land owner in 1761.

Just a note on finding this hill fort - it can be a little tricky. If travelling by car, follow Homefield through Milborne St Andrew, keeping to the left, until you reach the junction with Snag Lane. It is a 10 minute walk from here. The site is wilder and never busy, definitely worth visiting.

This is relatively isolated and I have never met anyone else when visiting on a weekday.
