Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Wiltshire

A spring flows into a trough recessed in an alcove. Pevsner mentions a timber frame in his county guide published in 1963 but this has long since disappeared. A date of 1885 is inscribed into the stone surround.

"In Bratton Road, near the junction with Warminster Road, there is a two-storied building with timber-framed upper part of different dates. This was formerly called Bere's Well, and a spring rising beneath it is carried under Bratton Road and by underground conduit down Church Street." - British History Online.

Nearly opposite the Town Hall, tucked into the wall almost below the road.
