Tewkesbury Abbey holy well
Tewkesbury Abbey holy well submitted by rogerkread : Photography isn't allowed within the Abbey, so I felt I had to take this quickly and surreptitiously - only the one shot then, and not very good. (Vote or comment on this photo)
The site is in St Margaret's Chapel within Tewkesbury Abbey, on the NW outer wall. It looks a bit like a damaged piscina but clearly isn't that when you look closely.

Pevsner (Buildings of England Gloucestershire 2) describes it as a 'recess, said to have been a holy well', though he doesn't elaborate as to who might have said that. Seems eminently reasonable though.
