Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Wiltshire

Time Team excavated this site in 1994 because of the Roman figurine that has been built into an alcove by the door of Tockenham parish church. A pond in an adjoining (private) garden was thought to have been the location of an early Roman shrine or even the site of a pre-Roman religious site. Many Roman artefacts have been found in the locality. Unfortunately, all that remains is a domestic water feature.

Watching a repeat of time team, there was mentioned sa field called 'widow pynegars drom', I have a friend whose surname is Pynegar and would appreciate more information, eg how the field was named and the history behind it.
