Corfe Castle East Hill barrows
Corfe Castle East Hill barrows submitted by JimChampion : View from the castle towards East Hill. The rectangle surrounded by gorse on the left is a covered reservoir. The bowl barrow on East Hill is near the summit, but it is only a very slight earthwork following years of ploughing. The hill is being 'restored' to traditional sheep-grazed downland. Near the end of the East Hill ridge above Corfe Castle is the remains of one or more round barrows.

Corfe Castle East Hill barrows submitted by JimChampion : The barrow on east hill is in the foreground. It has been greatly reduced in size by ploughing. The hill is now being reverted to traditional downland, which means grass and grazing by sheep. A permissive path leads up (via steps) to the west end of East Hill from the Sandy Hill Lane. There is a 'walkers car park' provided by Dorset County Council on Sandy Hill Lane, just to the south of this barr... (Vote or comment on this photo)
