Amongst the many petroglyphs to be found here can be seen the finest ancient depiction of an atlatl and its dart in North America. With the bow and arrow having been developed ~1500 years ago in North America, the rock art here predates this technology. Occupation of the area is estimated from 300BC to 1150 AD, although several sources estimate that some of the rock art may be as old as 3000 years.
