Rock Art in Dona Ana County, New Mexico.
A group of twelve separate focal points of petroglyphs in the Summerford Mountain area, this was home to the Jornada Mogollon prehistoric culture and the historic Apache people.
These rock art sites are located within the Chihuahuan Desert Rangeland Research Center of the University of New Mexico. The sites are not generally accessible to the public. However, the university sponsors studies at the sites and very occasionally tours are available.
The location given is for Summerford Mountain itself, and not any one rock art site.
See more at the New Mexico Stat University website for the Chihuahuan Desert Rangeland Research Center.
