Mexican footprints may be among oldest in Americas. Fossilized imprint of human footsteps discovered in May 2006 in Coahuila, Mexico. Location is given for the nearby town. The access to this site is unknown.

Cuatro Cienegas, "The Four Marshes," is in a biological preserve south of Cuatrocienegas de Carranza. The area is known for a biological preserve surrounding a series of unique desert springs. This unique ecosystem is cited by the Nature Conservancy as being comparable to the Galapagos in ecological diversity.

Country: Mexico Ancient human footprints discovered in the Mexican desert may be among the oldest in the Americas. The 13 footprints found in Cuatro Cienegas in the northern state of Coahuila are fossilised in stone less than an inch (2 cm) deep and are around the age of the oldest known footprints in North or South America.

"We believe they could be between 10,000 and 15,000 years old," said archaeologist Yuri de la Rosa. "The research we have done on Cuatro Cienegas shows the presence of hunters and gatherers in the Coahuila desert beginning 10,000 years ago."
