Ancient Town in Michoacan State, Mexico.
The capital and a ceremonial site of the P'urhépecha (Tarascan) culture. The P'urhépecha state was a contemporary to the Aztec, or Triple Alliance, empire. They continued to resist takeover from the Aztecs until both were overwhelmed by the Spanish in 1500's.

The main features of the site are a large central plaza and five "yacata" pyramids of stone. All five are reconstructed from a nearly demolished state found when the site was excavated in the 1930's. The structures were made from dressed stone, and were rounded when seen from above, instead of having sharp corners.
