Rock Art in Northumberland
There are three rock art panels recorded at this location:
Ord a: This carved rock is recorded as ERA-1 Ord a on England's Rock Art website, which includes a copy of a drawing of the stone from 1970. ERA describe the motifs as "A large cup is surrounded by two penannulars that stop at the groove leading out of the cup. Five cups form a rough arc outside the penannulars." ERA adds a note from the Beckensall Archive which says: "The motifs are not cut through, as though it had been deliberately incorporated as a feature." The original Beckensall record can be found at Internet Archive: Beckensall 1 Ord a.
Ord b: This panel has a single cup. For basic information see England's Rock Art entry for ERA-1913 Ord b, which includes Beckensall's description a drawing of the rock and a slide. The original Beckensall record can be found at Internet Archive: Beckensall 2 Ord b.
Ord 3: ERA also records ERA-3 Ord c which notes that this comprises just a single oval cup mark and describes its condition as being 'very good'. The original Beckensall record can be found at Internet Archive: Beckensall 3 Ord c.
Please note Ord b is recorded as having been donated to Berwick Museum. The current locations of Ord a and Ord c are recorded as being 'art in a structure'.
