Surrounded by a hospital, a major road junction, the Cirencester ring road and the Roman Amphitheatre, it is perhaps surprising that anything of this long barrow survives at all, but survive it does.

In a little fenced off grassy area beside the ring road, this long barrow is dwarfed by its neighbour, the Roman Amphitheatre, which is less than 50 metres away. I can only assume that the barrow was still held sacred when the Romans were here, which would explain why the barrow wasn't destroyed during the construction of the amphitheatre.

Human remains were found here during excavations the 19th Century, which included two cuts right through the mound.
