Iron Age settlement in Northumberland

This multivallate Iron Age enclosure of 100 x 90m dimensions is located on the slope descending to the south, in a hardly defensible location, suggesting it was not a fort. Two lines of earthwork are particularly clear in the eatern part of the structure. Possible remains of the entrance are located in the southern part of the enclosure.

Pastscape entry.
