Stephen's Castle Tumulus
Stephen's Castle Tumulus submitted by Gedv1 : Stephen's Castle Tumlus. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Round Barrow(s) in Dorset

Tumulus at highest point behind, and overlooking the old quarry at Stephen's Castle ( sadly not named after a castle ).

The tumulus has a path leading to its summit and is perhaps the 'meatiest' of the local tumuli, but nonetheless is considerable degraded by foot-walking traffic as Stephen's Castle is a local nature reserve. Decent veiws from the top however, towards Isle of Purbeck.

Nearby is Stephen's Stone. See local submissions on here for this historic boundary stone.
