It has taken me some time to research your conundrum - I think this entry should refer to Huntsmans Quarry Kemerton Worcestershire (which is just over the border from Gloucestershire in the Wychavon District of Worcs) - if I point you in the direction of Bredon Hill (not the same as Breedon Hill) you will have found the correct area - a well known archaeological hot spot.

I think the Glos. entry should be deleted - Huntsmans Quarry in the Cotswolds (just in the Parish of Upper Slaughter) is extremely well documented and I can find no reference at all to a timber circle going back 250yrs - but loads of Long/Round Barrows very close to the quarry and of course Milton's (poet) Spring

Huntsmans Quarry (Glos.) itself is a Geological Hotspot for fossils - there is an excellent 'Geological Trail /Walk/Guide' produced and run by Huntsmans Quarries Ltd at Naunton

So there is a lot to investigate in both Glos. and Worcs.

When and how was it destroyed? If it's destroyed how is it known about?
