Promontory Fort in Northumberland

A poorly preserved Iron Age promontory fort is located north of the famous Brinkburn Priory. Its mutilated rampart and part of the outer bank are still distinguishable, but later medieval earthworks, surface quarrying and tracks heavily obscure the Iron Age earthworks and make the site difficult to interpret.

Pastscape entry.
