Rock Art in Yorkshire (West)
This cup marked stone is featured on The Northern Antiquarian (TNA) - see their page for Bowling Green Stone, Shipley, West Yorkshire. TNA give precise details on how to reach the stone together with a brief archaeology and history.
A carved gritstone rock, the carving consisting of at least 13 cups appears on Pastscape Monument No. 1105711, which gives a slightly different grid reference of SE 14484 37520, and add that this stone is a scheduled monument.
Checking on the Historic England site, they reference a cup marked rock 60 metres south west of the War Memorial at Crowgill Park; click on List Entry 1015617 for more details. They give the grid reference SE 14481 37522, but then correct it to SE 14484 37520, the same as Pastscape. The Historic England entry adds: "As the rock is totally ivy-covered, it is difficult to locate, but its dimensions are apparent to the touch. It measures 1.4m by 0.8m by 0.5m. The carving consists of at least 13 cups, many of them connected in pairs by short grooves."
All three grid references are less than 20 metres apart, according to measurements taken off UK Grid Finder, although the descriptions on TNA, Pastscape and Historic England all match.
