Ancient Crosses in Derbyshire

An Anglo Saxon cross shaft in the churchyard of St Peter's, Hope.

Update February 2019: Historic England lists a number of cross shafts in and around St. Peter's. These are:
Historic England List ID 1012159: Wayside cross known as the Eccles Cross at SK 17231 83480;
Historic England List ID 1121949, Cross Shaft 1m south of St Peter's Church;
Historic England List ID 1008828, Anglian High Cross in the Churchyard of St Peter's at SK 17232 83451;
Historic England List ID 1096622, Remains of Churchyard Cross, 3m south of St Peter's Church at SK 17231 83451; and
Historic England List ID 1008829, Standing Cross in the churchyard of St Peter's Church at SK 17238 83439.

On the W face Christ carries his cross, below which a panel with two figures embracing. The E face has two figures holding a large staff. There is also intricate interlacing on all sides. Also in the churchyard the stump of the Medieval Eccles...
