Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Yorkshire (West)

The well features on The Northern Antiquarian (TNA) - see their entry for Pickel Well, Birstall, West Yorkshire. TNA tell us the well seems to have been built over in recent years, having been one of the main water supplies for Gomersal and Birstall in earlier times (the name Pickel or Pikel meaning 'heavy rain').

The TNA page contains an image of the 1847 OS map showing the location of the well, a brief archaeology & history and local folklore.

Note: Do you know if this well still exists? Do you have any information, photographs, images or drawings to contribute?
