Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Yorkshire (South)

This is found on the south-east corner of the common and has been dressed since the village was absorbed into Sheffield from Derbyshire when it was also restored. Its waters were said to be healing and may have been used by the Saxons as the site is near King Egbert’s stone situated where the said King was proclaimed king of Mercia
