Ancient Cross in Yorkshire (West)

Pastscape Monument No. 52985 tells us that fragments of Anglo Saxon crosses were found when the old church was demolished in 1838. Some of these fragments came from the same cross and were pieced back together, although Pastscape notes "the wheel head probably came from a different cross". The fragments date to the 10th century. Some fragments remain in the church, the rest are now in the City Museum.

The Journal of Antiquities also includes an entry for the Saxon Cross in St Peter’s Minster Church, Leeds, West Yorkshire, which includes a drawing and a photograph of the cross, a description, background information on the Anglian and Scandinavian workmanship shown on the cross, and a list of reference sources for more information.
