Pierre des Farfadets (Stone of the Sprites) is a megalith situated on the locality of Mélière, in Poiré-sur-Vie. It is classified ancient memorial in 1939. It is a granite block weighs a dozen tons and contains more than 300 signs engraved in its surface (circles, cross, anthropomorph signs …) of which one ignores meaning. It is a stone with cups. It would be dated period enters the Neolithic (5000 in 2000 BC.) and the Bronze age (on 2000 in 800 BC.).
Legends …
One says that this stone was formerly situated in the locality Les Filées de Barrot, but that Gargantua charged it on the shoulders to go to put down it at the top of the hillside, on the opposite bank where it is always . Since, the name of " palet of Gargantua " is sometimes given to this stone.
The another story learns us, that the sprites would have hidden under this stone, a treasure. They guard him it jealously and settle down on the stone to play "caguenettes" in holes, which they dug in this effect ( the first-rate cups), rolling oak apples in holes.
