Round Barrow in County Durham

A Bronze Age round barrow is located on the summit of a low knoll, few metres north of the Neolithic long barrow. It has 14m in diameter and reaches up to 1.2m of height, it is easily distinguishable.

The two barrows are easy to find using the distinctive copse as a landmark when walking east from Wingate Quarry Nature Reserve. Pigeon shooting was taking place in the woods so a word of caution to the megalith enthusiast.
The second long barrow in the field is quite marked in the winter and the soil much more rocky around it.
