This site was an open cast mine in the 80s it was closed and relandscaped by the British coal board.
The stones are a modern feature created when it was relandscaped.

I would recommend visiting these stones on the morning of the equinoxes. Because as the sun rises the King stone glows orange. I have photos and video of this occurring.

this site is modern, just been to check it out. surrounded by vicious gorse. its on the common land by the airport (darnall side) not on baker street as the description suggests.
