Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Nottinghamshire

The water of this spring was said to be healing, as well as being an aprodisiac! The water appeared to supply a nearby Carthusian Priory and was probably deemed holy as a result. According to old pictures the well was once housed in a temple probably as an estate folly. This has now been raized to the ground, although there are still enough remains to trace it. Steps go down to a oval basin where a preceivable trickle flows in. It is a difficult site to find, it is marked on OS maps but is in a woodland which may be private, although there are no signs as such.
