There is a megalith in the community of Millières at the place known as La Guillaumerie – a granite stone which measures 2.55 m.

I found the track near to Rougerie Sud farm, and parked near to a large stone in the hedge (talus) where there was room near to the junction with the road. I then walked all down the lane, looking in the fields and the hedges surrounding the fields, expecting to find the stone in the field to the south of the trackway. But I found nothing else, and decided that the stone I parked near to must be the menhir, so had a proper look. I decided that this was clearly once a menhir standing here, but it was good to have ruled out other possibilities.

The stone is about 2.5 metres long, 1.2 metres wide and 0.7 m thick granite type stone. Probably once standing, and then surrounded by the hedge, this would have been a nice menhir. Although now fallen, it has now (probably fairly recently) been cleared from the talus all around it, looking like it is perhaps cared for by somebody – although not so well that it has had all sorts of stuff dumped beside it.

My second attempt to visit this stone (Saturday 5th June 2010) was successful, although I spent a lot longer here than I needed to!

Very interesting. Had a look now. Hopefully helpful info:
The Menhir is marked on a map of Millières (appr. 1:50.000, dating from 2003). The coordinates are 49.19239,-1.475708 (+/- 100m, as the symbol used in the map is 100m x 100m). Centre of the symbol in the map is approximately 250m NNE of La Guillaumerie Farm, ~100-120m west of the road and near a small farm/house called La Rougerie Sud. The large farm La Rougerie is ~ 400m NNE of the menhir. According to the map the Menhir is located less than 100m South of a path calles „chemin du gros cailloux“ leading towards the West and starting just 100m North of the small farm la rougerie Sud.

Thanks for that info Martin - where did you find that ? However, I am now back in England, so this will have to wait for a future visit - probably in the summer.

Martyn, thanks for your feedback, unfortunately I was to slow...
Originally I planned to post the link for the map, but after I printed it and some other activities I noticed, that I forgot to copy the link and the session-history already was deleted. Then I did not recall the words used for the successful search as I tried several different ones.
But after all I just refound it:

That is great. I think next time I am visiting my sister, and get a nice afternoon, this will be one more of the Manche megalithes which will have been hunted down !

The last few I can find information about are slowly revealing themselves to the world. So, I can count my afternoon out as a success. One found and one identified to a field position !

Must find time to try and pin down the Pierre à l'Homme at St-Rémy-des-Landes a bit better.

I had a quick look for this yesterday, but it was soaking wet everywhere, and starting to get dark. There was a stone set on its side behind the namesign to La Guillaumerie farm, but I don't think that this is the megalith. It certainly wasn't 2.5m in length, and I don't think it was granite. I could see nothing hiding in the nearby hedgerows eiher.

I guess this is another stone that needs to be shown by locals who know where it is, and wont get found by a look along the public lanes.
