Alex Gibson says Ferrybridge 'henge 'is almost certainly Iron Age. This came up in the Prehistoric Society Barrows of the Yorkshire Wolds conference 2021.

I visited the site today on my lunchbreak as I was keen to take a closer look given it's only 5 miles from my home. My closes ancient site. I took the drone up and was able to see clearly the remains of the henge that has been sectioned off from the main arable field. Upon closer inspection the henge has a slight raised ridge probably no more than 3 or 4 feet in total. It appears to have been eroded over time. I am keen to understand if any digs have taken place at this site previously and what/if anything was found. I've not much to go on with it. If anyone reading has further information please do get in touch.
A point to note. The two nearby tumulus as detailed on the OS maps are gone. I was able to drive into the Ferrybridge power station site unhindered and go for a closer look but was met with no obvious signs of their remains aside from the very slightest of rough ground in the grass. I cannot be sure if this has anything to do with them however. Again happy to share information. Thanks.
